About Flameheart Sol/Debe Wise
As part of the Educational Leadership and Development program at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center, my hope is to examine issues of Identity and Culture in virtual worlds and answer the questions, (a) What causes people to choose particular identity traits in a virtual world, (b) how far removed are those traits from real life, and (c) How is the real life of a virtual world participant changed by their virtual identity and activities?

Hi, Debe. . .I am a doctoral student at Antioch University, and I started a blog about my dissertation process yesterday. I searched wordpress for other “dissertating” students and have enjoyed reading yours. Your topic is so interesting — and very timely. I predict that the next generation of world citizens are likely to view the online cultures to which they belong to be just as salient as the other more typically recognized cultures to which they belong (or construct). I’m looking forward to following your progress. It is nice to find another student who is at the same point in the process as me (I’m writing my dissertation proposal currently as well.)
Good luck, and enjoy!
Warmly,
Lisa (www.bhamgraham.wordpress.com)
